Karachi, Pakistan – Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan has declared a countrywide protest today against the recent rise in the price of petrol. Hafiz Naeem has stated that the move by the government to increase the prices of petroleum products is intolerable and equates to straining the masses.
Hafiz Naeem- ur-Rehman in a video statement highlighted that the price increase will hit the poor and the middle classes hard and added that it was like trampling the common men under the feet of unjust policies.
The Jamaat-e-Islami chief also highlighted that bikers, delivery workers, students, and laborers will be directly affected by the increase. He encouraged the citizens all over Pakistan to participate in the demonstrations and speak up against what he termed as a petrol bomb to the masses.
The movement of the protest is the start of a nationwide campaign by Jamaat-e-Islami against fuel price hikes and to hold government to account concerning policies that impact masses.
