LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th Apr, 2026) Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique has announced that the Jinnah Institute of Cardiology Lahore will soon become fully operational and provide world-class healthcare facilities to heart patients across the region.
He made these remarks while chairing the eighth meeting of the Board of Governors of the institute at the Department of Specialized Healthcare and Medical education on Thursday. Chairman Board of Governors Dr. Farqad Alamgir co-chaired the meeting.
The meeting reviewed the progress of the under-construction Jinnah Institute of Cardiology in detail. Provincial Secretary Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Azmat Mahmood, Irfan Ali, Asad Ali Khan, Dr. Zubair Akram, Principal Allama Iqbal Medical College Professor Tayyaba Waseem, and Additional Secretary Technical Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Waseem attended the session.
During the meeting, the minutes of the seventh Board of Governors meeting were ratified. The board approved revised Human Resource Regulations, the budget for the current financial year, and the annual purchase of medicines and surgical disposables.
The ongoing recruitment process for various posts was also reviewed comprehensively.
Khawaja Salman Rafique reiterated that the government is committed to providing the best possible healthcare facilities to patients suffering from heart diseases across Punjab. He added that new facilities will soon be introduced at the institute to further improve cardiac care services.
Chairman Board of Governors Dr. Farqad Alamgir stated that all members are actively contributing to the development of the institution, which will be established as a transparent and modern healthcare model. He added that the 256-bed hospital will soon be handed over to the administration.
Provincial Secretary Azmat Mahmood emphasized the need for immediate implementation of all decisions and assured that recruitment for various positions is being carried out strictly on merit.
Shahid Imtiaz from the Law Department and Chief Health P&D Waqas Ranjha also participated in the meeting via video link.
