RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Apr, 2026) Jinnah Iqbal South Asian Forum(JISAF) will organise a three-day vocational training workshop and distribute sewing machines among educated widows and underprivileged young women in a bid to promote self-employment and economic independence.
Chairman of Jinnah Iqbal South Asian Forum Rana Abdul Baqi said the programme, scheduled from May 1 to May 3, was aimed at equipping deserving women with professional tailoring skills and the tools needed to start home-based businesses.
He said the initiative would begin with a two-day specialised workshop on May 1 and 2, focusing on cutting and stitching children’s and women’s garments, enabling participants to develop marketable skills and improve their financial prospects.
The programme will conclude with a sewing machine distribution ceremony on May 3 at Jinnah Iqbal education school in Asghar Mall Scheme.
Marking International Workers’ Day, the forum will provide sewing machines to trained participants to help them launch self-employment ventures from their homes.
Baqi said the initiative was an important step towards improving the lives of women facing financial hardship with dignity and sustainable livelihood opportunities.
He said Colonel Bakhtiar Hakim, Secretary General of Thinkers Forum Pakistan, would attend the distribution ceremony as chief guest, while noted journalist Ayesha Malik would preside over the session.
Baqi said the forum remained committed to social uplift by creating opportunities that turn skills into sustainable sources of income for deserving women in Rawalpindi.
