MIRPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Mar, 2026) The Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front has strongly condemned what it termed the fabricated conviction of pro-freedom Kashmiri women leaders, therefore escalating its criticism of Indian authorities over the issue. In a statement issued from its central information office on Wednesday, the party described the sentencing as a blatant act of political victimization.
JKLF chief spokesman Muhammad Rafiq Dar said the life sentence awarded to Syeda Aasiya Andrabi, along with 30-year terms handed to Nahida Nasreen and Fehmida Sofi, was part of a systematic campaign of political vendetta. He alleged that the cases were baseless and pursued under the guise of legal proceedings, while targeting voices advocating for Kashmir’s right to self-determination.
Moreover, Dar accused the government led by Narendra Modi of attempting to deliberately suppress pro-freedom leadership through judicial means.
He also condemned the continued detention of several political figures, asserting that they were being punished for their legitimate struggle for the rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Furthermore, the JKLF spokesman urged international powers and global human rights organizations to urgently intervene, however, stressing the need for an early and peaceful resolution of the longstanding Kashmir dispute. The party also demanded the immediate and unconditional release of detained leaders, including Yasin Malik, Shabir Ahmad Shah, Masarat Alam Bhat and others.
Meanwhile, the spokesman expressed deep grief over the demise of the father of jailed JKLF leader Saleem Nanaji. Extending condolences to the bereaved family, he prayed for eternal peace for the departed soul and strength for the family to bear the loss.
