Jordan’s armed forces said Thursday that the country’s air defense systems intercepted eight missiles launched from Iran.
The military said debris from some of the intercepted missiles fell in various areas, but no casualties or property damage were reported.
Earlier, Jordan’s state news agency, citing a government spokesperson, reported that warning sirens sounded across the country after missiles launched from Iran were detected in Jordanian airspace.
According to Reuters, the spokesperson said Jordan’s armed forces remain on full alert and are fully prepared to respond to any threat to the security of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
Earlier, Iranian media reported that a U.S. military base in Jordan had come under attack. However, the United States has not commented on the report.
During the recent conflict, Tehran repeatedly targeted U.S. military bases and facilities in several countries across the region, including Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan, in response to U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran.
