PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st May, 2026) The district cabinet of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) F has decided to launch a vigorous public awareness campaign against the provincial government for its sluggishness in holding local government elections.

According to a press release issued here on Thursday, the district cabinet meeting was held at Mufti Mahmood Markaz under the chairmanship of Maulana Miskin Shah.

The meeting discussed the overall political, public and organizational situation of the province in detail and expressed deep concern over inflation, unrest, delay in local government elections and the problems faced by the people, and several important decisions were taken.

The meeting decided that on the instructions of Ameer-e-Jamiat, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, a full-scale protest would be held in Peshawar today and tomorrow on Friday. In this regard, a grand protest rally will be held from Nowsha Baba Mosque on GT Road in Peshawar at 2 pm after Friday prayers, in which all officials and workers of Peshawar, traders, youth and people belonging to different schools of thought will participate.

The meeting expressed serious concerns over the provincial government’s continuous delay in holding local government elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

The speakers said that despite the clear orders of the Constitution of Pakistan and the Supreme Court of Pakistan, the provincial government was continuously neglecting and lazily conducting local government elections, due to which the people had been deprived of basic facilities and solutions to their problems.

Due to the absence of local government representatives, the system of solving problems at the doorstep of the people has been completely paralyzed, while the provincial government is continuously failing to fulfill its constitutional and administrative responsibilities, they said.

The meeting decided that Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam would create awareness among the public in a systematic manner to force the government to hold local body elections immediately.

Two committees were formed that would conduct a public relations campaign as well as liaise with other political parties so that a joint action plan could be adopted on this important public issue.

The committee will include former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Haji Ghulam Ali, Maulana Miskin Shah, Ahmed Ali Darwish, former MNA Nasir Khan Musazai, former District Nazim-e-Ala Muhammad Umar, Tehsil Chairman Haroon Sifat Kaleemullah and Malik Mehraj Khan. Similarly, an advisory committee will be formed in the meeting, comprising on former Mayor Peshawar Zubair Ali, Maulana Amanullah Haqqani, Maulana Mustaqim Inamullah Alizai, Advocate Haji Noorhad Gul, Haji Zahir Shah, Advocate, which will formulate suggestions regarding the future action plan, adjustment protest activities and public relations campaign after consulting various political and social circles.

The participants of the meeting expressed their determination that their voices would be raised at every democratic and constitutional forum for the restoration of public rights, local government system and peace and stability in the province.
