Jumanji 3
Dwayne Johnson has shared a heartfelt tribute to veteran actor Danny DeVito as he marks the completion of DeVito’s filming on the upcoming Jumanji 3, reflecting on their time together and his deep respect for the Hollywood legend. Johnson took to social media to celebrate the milestone, posting photos from the set featuring himself, DeVito, and co‑star Kevin Hart. In his caption, he wrote: “That’s an official Jumanji wrap on the one and only, Danny DeVito.” He added, “To work with you, and learn from you has been an honor .. and to call you my friend, will always be a privilege.” In the message, Johnson also expressed gratitude to DeVito for his “anchoring heart and JOY” throughout the franchise, and closed with a playful note to his co‑star: “Ps, please keep smilin’ and please keep exfoliating the top of your head.” DeVito joined the Jumanji cast in 2019 and has been part of the franchise’s revival, appearing alongside returning stars in the latest sequel — which is expected to be the final installment in the rebooted series. Johnson’s tribute highlights not just their professional collaboration but the friendship that developed during filming. As Jumanji 3 moves toward its release, Johnson’s public praise underscores the respect and admiration he holds for DeVito’s contribution to the film and to Hollywood as a whole. Awkwafina, Danny DeVito, and Danny Glover joined the film in January 2019. Alex Wolff, Ser’Darius Blain, Madison Iseman, Morgan Turner, and Nick Jonas were hired to reprise their roles in February. In March, Dania Ramirez joined the cast of the film. That same month, Rhys Darby was confirmed to reprise his role in the film. Colin Hanks joined the cast in May to reprise his role. The film was released in the United States on December 13, 2019.[citation needed] The film was released on digital by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment on March 3, 2020, and was released on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, and DVD on March 17. The sequel is due to be released this year.
Following the release of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Sony began developing the sequel. Kasdan returned to direct the sequel, with Rosenberg and Pinkner again writing the script and Johnson, Hart, Black, and Gillan reprising their roles. Black confirmed the new film as being a fourth Jumanji film because of Zathura: A Space Adventure (2005), serving as the second film and sharing continuity with the other films of the series, with Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle serving as the third film. According to Kasdan the film used the working title J-19. The film’s title was revealed as Jumanji: The Next Level.
Filming began on January 21, 2019, and took place in the Blackhall Studios near Atlanta, New Mexico, Calgary, Fortress Mountain Resort, Algodones Dunes in California, and Hawaii before wrapping on May 11. Johnson made a reported $23.5 million for his role.[20]
