RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Mar, 2026) Commissioner Aamir Khattak has said that around 70% work on the remodelling project of Kachehri Chowk has been completed and is rapidly moving towards completion.

He expressed these views while chairing a review meeting regarding the progress of the project and assessing future traffic flow and administrative arrangements after its completion.

The meeting was attended by Director Development Syed Nazarat Ali, Additional Commissioner Coordination Zenia Humayun and officers of the departments concerned.

Officials briefed the meeting that under the project, construction work at Iftikhar Janjua Chowk has reached 60% completion, while 66% work on the Kachehri Chowk underpass has been completed. Work on the Jinnah Park Flyover is also progressing swiftly and about 60% of the structure has been completed.

The briefing further stated that key construction stages, including piling, deck slabs and retaining walls, have been completed 100%, while 86% work on the boundary wall has been finished.

Construction of utility ducts has reached 83% completion and 96% work on the sump well has also been completed.

The commissioner said that although the project had originally been planned for completion in 18 months, efforts were being made to complete it within a record period of six months while ensuring quality and transparency.

He noted that Kachehri Chowk is one of the busiest intersections in the city where thousands of vehicles pass daily, and the completion of the project would significantly reduce traffic congestion and facilitate commuters.

The commissioner directed the departments concerned to ensure that the remaining work is completed within the stipulated timeline and according to prescribed standards to provide relief to citizens facing traffic difficulties in the area.
