KARACHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Apr, 2026) The city administration has launched a crackdown on public transport operators for overcharging passengers.

On the directives of Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi, the Secretary Regional Transport Authority (RTA), in collaboration with the Traffic Police, took action on Tuesday against bus operators found of overcharging.

According to the press release issued, 52 buses were checked. Passengers who were overcharged were refunded the excess fare.

Secretary RTA Nazar Shahani has submitted the progress report to the Commissioner Karachi, informing that the RTA collectively refunded Rs 9,800 to passengers, while a fine of Rs 675,000 was imposed on bus operators involved in fare violations.
