K-Electric, the primary electricity provider for Karachi, has announced a scheduled power shutdown affecting 26 feeders across the city on April 17, 2026, as part of ongoing maintenance work.

The utility company asserts that the outages are scheduled to enable the required repairs on transformers in different locations. The work will be carried out at different times between 8:00 AM and 12:00 AM, depending on the area, resulting in temporary disruptions to electricity supply.

K-Electric reported that load shedding of 16 hours at a maximum and 2 hours at the minimum may be experienced by residents within the affected regions. The length of outages will depend on the extent of maintenance work in the specific locality.

The power outage is likely to affect day-to-day activities such as business, family, and basic services. It is recommended that citizens schedule their day to accommodate the temporary inconvenience and take the required precautions.

The company emphasized that these maintenance efforts are aimed at improving the reliability and performance of the power distribution system in the long term.
