Karachi Police arrest 839 suspects in week-long crackdown on crime

KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Feb, 2026) Acting on the directives of Additional Inspector General of Police - Karachi Azad Khan, Karachi Police carried out a series of successful operations against criminal elements across the city during the past week, resulting in hundreds of arrests and significant recoveries of weapons, narcotics and stolen vehicles.

According to a news release on Monday, district police engaged in 27 encounters with suspected robbers during anti-crime operations across Karachi. During exchanges of fire, 45 suspects including 32 injured alleged robbers were arrested.

Police recovered 42 illegal weapons of various types and 16 motorcycles from their possession.

Overall, police arrested more than 839 suspects in operations conducted in the East, West and South zones of the city over the past week.

As part of the ongoing anti-narcotics campaign and police encounters in different areas, authorities also seized drugs worth millions of rupees, including 30.275 kilograms of hashish, 3.830 kilograms of ice/crystal meth and heroin.

Police further recovered over 133 illegal weapons along with ammunition allegedly used by suspects in street crimes and robbery incidents targeting citizens.

In separate actions, Karachi Police recovered 38 snatched or stolen motorcycles and one vehicle during operations carried out in various parts of the city.
