The Brussels-based Kashmir Council Europe has strongly condemned the sentencing of Kashmiri women leaders, therefore terming the move an act of “Indian state terrorism”

MIRPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Mar, 2026) The Brussels-based Kashmir Council Europe has strongly condemned the sentencing of Kashmiri women leaders, therefore terming the move an act of “Indian state terrorism.” The council criticized the life imprisonment awarded to Asiya Andrabi, head of Dukhtaran-e-Millat, as well as 30-year sentences handed to her associates Fahmeeda Sofi and Nahida Nasreen.

In a statement, reaching and released to the media here on Wednesday, KCEU Chairman Ali Raza Syed described the verdict as a blatant miscarriage of justice, while alleging that it reflects ongoing violations of fundamental human rights in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He furthermore termed the sentences baseless and politically motivated, calling upon international human rights organizations to take immediate notice of the situation.

Moreover, Syed said the decision forms part of broader repressive measures aimed at silencing voices advocating for the right to self-determination. He alleged that draconian laws are being used to suppress dissent in the region, however, maintained that such tactics cannot deter the Kashmiri people’s struggle for their legitimate rights.

The KCEU chairman also highlighted the continued detention of leaders including Yasin Malik and Khurram Parvez, urging global intervention for their release. Consequently, he called on the international community to support a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute in line with United Nations Security Council resolutions, emphasizing that the Kashmiri people’s struggle cannot be suppressed through force.
