Key suspect in double murder case in Burewala arrested

BUREWALA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th Mar, 2026) Saddar Police have arrested the main suspect involved in a 12-year-old double murder case, bringing long-awaited progress in a long-pending investigation.

According to police sources, the accused, identified as Amjad, was apprehended following special directives issued by District Police Officer (DPO) Vehari, Tasawur Iqbal. The arrest was carried out by a team led by SHO Mehr Abbas.

The suspect had been on the run since allegedly committing the brutal murder of a husband and wife in 2014 in village 455/EB, located in the outskirts of Burewala.

The killings reportedly stemmed from a land dispute, during which the accused, along with an accomplice, murdered the couple.

Police officials stated that the accused had remained in hiding for over a decade to evade arrest. However, acting on a confidential tip-off, law enforcement authorities successfully tracked and detained him.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the accused intended to forcibly seize the land belonging to the deceased woman, Ghulam Kubra. Further investigation is underway to uncover additional details and possible involvement of other individuals.
