Khan Khawar Dan spillway opened to adjust excessive rainwater

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Jul, 2026) Spillway of Khan Khawar Dam Ranial has been opened due to continuous rain that lashed most parts of Shangla for fourth consecutive day.

According to details, the incessant rain increase water level in local streams, triggering landslides and disrupt traffic on major roads creating problems of Shangla people.

Alpuri college road that was blocked due to landsliding remained closed while traffic was affected in areas including Puran, Chakaiser, Shahpur Kana, Khawazakhela.

High water level in streams has also affected normal life in many villages damaging properties and protective embankments.

Spillway of Khan Khawar Dam has also been opened to control increasing water level and to protect local population from flooding.

Authorities have also warned people living in low laying areas adjacent to dam to take precautionary measure and remain conscious about their safety, particularly near streams.
