MULTAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th May, 2026) Pakistan Kissan Ittehad President Khalid Mahmood Khokhar on Monday urged the government to increase allocations for defence and agriculture in the upcoming 2026-27 Federal budget.
Addressing a press conference at the Multan Press Club, Khokhar said said that Pakistan had demonstrated military capability since May 2025, including the much-cited downing of a Rafale jets which had elevated the country's standing globally and opened the door to a mediating role between the United States and Iran. "Mediation comes to the brave," he added.
"The world has recognised our defence capability, and with that recognition comes
responsibility," he said.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Responding to a query, he stated, the army stands with the people in every crisis," he said. "It is our collective duty to provide the armed forces with the resources they need and it is equally our duty to secure the food supply of this nation as well."
On agriculture, he said the country's research budget should be increased as Pakistan ranking first globally in kinnow production, fourth in milk, and fifth in sugarcane.
He called for an urgent investment in modern agricultural technology, quality seeds,
and research.
