KOHISTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Apr, 2026) The Karakoram Highway (KKH), which had been closed due to a landslide at Lachi Nala in the Sazin area, has now been fully restored for all types of traffic following continuous efforts by the district administration.
According to officials, the road was initially reopened on a temporary basis late last night, allowing only small vehicles to pass through the affected area. The restricted access was granted as a precautionary measure while clearance work continued.
Acting on the special directives of Deputy Commissioner Upper Kohistan, Azizullah Jan, teams worked throughout the night to remove debris and ensure the safe restoration of traffic.
As a result of these sustained efforts, the highway was completely cleared and reopened for all categories of vehicles by this morning.
The Karakoram Highway is a vital route connecting northern areas with the rest of the country, and its closure had caused inconvenience to travelers and transporters.
The district administration has advised commuters to exercise caution while traveling through mountainous regions, particularly in areas prone to landslides, and to strictly follow traffic rules for their safety.
Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining road safety and ensuring a timely response in case of emergencies, especially during unstable weather conditions in the region.
