KOHAT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Mar, 2026) In a significant and carefully coordinated development, the district administration in Kohat has initiated a voluntary repatriation process for Afghan nationals following the reopening of the Torkham Border. In this regard on Thursday, acting on the directives of Muhammad Nawaz, Additional Assistant Commissioner Gambat Syed Mukhtiar Shah visited Ghulam Banda camp; moreover, he briefed residents about the government’s decision. Consequently, Afghan nationals were urged to ensure their voluntary return without delay.

During the visit, officials clearly informed camp residents that the repatriation order has come into effect from March 26, 2026; however, they emphasized that the process would remain organized and humane.

Meanwhile, authorities cautioned that legal action could be taken against those failing to comply with the directive. Therefore, refugees were strongly encouraged to cooperate fully with the administration to facilitate a smooth transition.

In addition, the Government of Pakistan has temporarily reopened the Torkham Border to ensure a safe, dignified, and phased return of undocumented Afghan refugees. Furthermore, key institutions—including Federal Investigation Agency, National Database and Registration Authority, Customs, and the National Logistics Corporation—have been directed to coordinate closely.

Strict security arrangements have also been enforced in Torkham, Landi Kotal, and adjoining areas.
