Kohat administration launches sweeping crackdown on illegal cigarettes, LPG overpricing

KOHAT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th Apr, 2026) The district administration, under the directives of Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nawaz, has vigorously launched a decisive, wide-ranging, and strict crackdown against violations of government regulations. Moreover, the initiative aims to curb illegal trade practices and ensure fair pricing for consumers across the district.

Meanwhile, in this regard on Monday, Additional Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Hamza Mutahar led operations targeting the sale of illegal, counterfeit, and tax-stamp–free cigarettes, thoroughly inspecting multiple shops across the city. However, during the drive, several violations were detected, leading to confiscation of illicit products and fines imposed on offenders.

Shopkeepers were firmly instructed to comply with official laws and regulations, with authorities warning of strict legal action against repeat violations. Furthermore, traders were urged to ensure transparency and avoid practices that harm public interest.

In a separate operation, officials actively inspected LPG outlets along Hangu Road, where several shopkeepers were penalized for overcharging customers. Therefore, the administration reiterated its strong commitment to consumer protection, emphasizing that adherence to government-notified rates is mandatory and any negligence will be dealt with severely.
