Kohat administration tightens law and order, anti-smuggling enforcement

KOHAT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Jun, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Kohat Muhammad Nawaz on Tuesday chaired a meeting of the District Monitoring Implementation Committee to review law and order and strengthen enforcement measures against smuggling and other illegal activities across the district.

The meeting was attended by officials from the district administration, police, Excise Department and other line departments. Participants briefed the deputy commissioner on the prevailing security situation and departmental performance. Addressing the gathering, Muhammad Nawaz directed all relevant authorities to utilize available resources for the effective implementation of the revised National Action Plan, stressing that maintaining peace and stability was essential for the district’s development and prosperity.

He warned that elements attempting to disturb public order would be dealt with firmly and instructed departments to take strict action against illegal spectrum usage.

The deputy commissioner also emphasized a zero-tolerance policy against smuggling and ordered enhanced coordination among enforcement agencies.

In a related development, an anti-smuggling meeting chaired by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Finance and Planning) directed officials from the administration, police, Food Department, Excise and Agriculture departments to ensure their presence at joint check posts and closely monitor the movement of food commodities, commercial goods and unregistered vehicles.

Separately, Additional Assistant Commissioner Gambat Syed Mukhtiar Shah inspected Gambat Bazaar, removed temporary encroachments and directed shopkeepers to adhere to official price lists and hygiene standards, while the Assistant Commissioner (Headquarters) conducted inspections against the sale of illegal cigarettes, confiscating unauthorized products and warning violators of strict legal action.
