KOHAT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Apr, 2026) The Kohat district administration has announced a decisive crackdown on illegal gold mining activities along the banks of the Indus River, claiming that such operations have now been effectively brought under control.

Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nawaz said strict enforcement measures are being implemented across the district to ensure full compliance with the law and to prevent any unauthorized extraction of natural resources.

He confirmed that Section 144 remains in force throughout Kohat, banning all illegal mining and related activities.

He added that individuals attempting to continue operations covertly, particularly during night hours, are being dealt with under firm legal action.

Reiterating the administration’s stance, the deputy commissioner said no individual or department would be allowed to engage in unlawful practices, warning that violators would face strict consequences. He further assured that protecting natural resources and upholding the rule of law remain key priorities of the district government.
