The delegation was received by the Jail Superintendent, who provided a comprehensive briefing on the prison’s operations and current environment.
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner underscored the imperative of ensuring humane and dignified treatment of prisoners. He called for the expansion of educational programs, vocational training, and religious guidance within the facility, emphasizing that such initiatives are essential for enabling inmates to reintegrate into society as responsible and productive citizens upon release.
Highlighting a progressive vision, Mr.
Nawaz remarked that prisons must evolve beyond punitive spaces into dynamic centers of rehabilitation and reform. He described this transformation as a pressing necessity in modern governance, noting that meaningful correctional strategies can significantly reduce recidivism and foster social stability.
Separately, acting on the Deputy Commissioner’s directives, Additional Assistant Commissioner-III Kohat, Syed Mukhtiar Shah, inspected Government Higher Secondary school Gambat amid ongoing matriculation examinations. He reviewed examination arrangements, interacted with students, and issued firm instructions to staff to curb malpractice, stressing that transparency and integrity are the cornerstones of a credible, merit-based education system.
