Kohat Police bust gang involved in robberies of university students

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th May, 2026) Kohat Police on Tuesday arrested a three-member gang allegedly involved in a series of robberies targeting students of Kohat University and recovered stolen valuables, weapons, and a motorcycle from their possession.

Police sources said Jarma Police Station had received several complaints in recent weeks regarding incidents of armed robbery and mobile phone snatching involving university students. Taking notice of the matter, District Police Officer Shahbaz Elahi directed immediate action to trace and arrest those involved.

Following the directives, SHO Iqbal Khan and his team launched an investigation using technical methods, ground intelligence, and information from human sources.

The operation resulted in the arrest of three suspects identified as Ismail, Waseem alias Jaraseem, and Parvez alias Soor.

During the crackdown, police recovered weapons allegedly used in the robberies, four snatched mobile phones, cash, and a motorcycle. Officials said further interrogation of the accused is underway and more disclosures are expected. Police reiterated their resolve to continue operations against criminal elements to ensure the safety of citizens, particularly students, and maintain law and order across the district.
