Kohat police foil major arms smuggling bid, two arrested

KOHAT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Apr, 2026) Kohat Police, acting on directives of District Police Officer Shahbaz Elahi, on Sunday foiled a major attempt to smuggle a large consignment of illegal weapons during a targeted checkpoint operation in the district.

According to police sources, the operation was conducted by a team led by DSP Headquarters Imaduddin and SHO KDA Police Station Umar Khaliq. Two suspects, identified as Ibrahim and Yousaf, residents of Sadda, were intercepted while attempting to transport arms from Darra Adam Khel to Kurram district.

Officials said the search led to the recovery of 18 MP-5 rifles and 90 pistols from the possession of the accused. Both suspects were arrested on the spot, and a case was registered at KDA Police Station under relevant arms and criminal laws.

Police said preliminary investigation has been launched to trace further links in the network, while DPO Shahbaz Elahi reiterated that the crackdown against organised criminal elements and illegal arms trafficking will continue without interruption.
