In a significant stride toward tackling substance abuse, Kohat police have rolled out a proactive initiative aimed at rehabilitating drug addicts and reintegrating them into society as productive citizens

KOHAT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Apr, 2026) In a significant stride toward tackling substance abuse, Kohat police have rolled out a proactive initiative aimed at rehabilitating drug addicts and reintegrating them into society as productive citizens. In this regard on Tuesday, acting on the directives of District Police Officer (DPO) Shehbaz Elahi, personnel of City Police Station conducted a targeted operation, taking three habitual drug users into protective custody. The individuals were subsequently transferred to a rehabilitation centre, where they are receiving structured treatment and support for recovery.

Station House Officer (SHO) Abdul Rauf Bangash highlighted that rehabilitation remains a cornerstone in addressing addiction, stressing that timely intervention can restore lives and families.

He urged citizens to come forward without fear or hesitation and report cases of drug dependency within their communities, assuring them of full support from law enforcement.

Reaffirming the department’s commitment, the DPO stated that all available resources are being mobilized to combat drug abuse and expand rehabilitation efforts. He emphasized that meaningful public cooperation will be instrumental in sustaining these initiatives and building a healthier, drug-free society.
