Kohat police promote 17 constables; two goat theft suspects held in separate operation

KOHAT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Feb, 2026) In a notable boost to departmental morale, seventeen constables of Kohat Police have been promoted to the rank of head constable under a structured promotion process initiated on the special directives of Zulfiqar Hameed and in accordance with instructions from Irfan Tariq.

In this regard on Tuesday, the District Promotion Committee, chaired by District Police Officer Shehbaz Elahi, convened a detailed session with the participation of SP Investigation and SP Headquarters. During the meeting, service dossiers, performance appraisals and departmental conduct were thoroughly examined; consequently, 17 officials were elevated to the next rank. The process was described as transparent, comprehensive and performance-driven.

Congratulating the newly promoted officers, DPO Shehbaz Elahi urged them to diligently uphold the rule of law and consistently maintain exemplary discipline.

Moreover, he emphasised that public rights must be fully respected; therefore, policing duties should invariably be discharged with honesty, fairness and professional competence. He further stressed that promotions not only recognise past service but also significantly increase responsibility.

Meanwhile, in a separate but swift development, Usterzai Police arrested two suspects allegedly involved in goat theft in the Esterzai area. Acting promptly on a tip-off, a police team led by SHO Adnan Khan carried out an effective raid, subsequently apprehending the accused — identified as Muslim Ali and Mashriq Ali, residents of Orakzai district. The stolen livestock was successfully recovered, and the suspects have been formally nominated in the FIR, while further investigation is actively underway.
