KOHAT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Apr, 2026) The residents of Kohat have expressed strong resentment over the prolonged delay in completion of government-initiated development schemes, which have left the city’s streets dug up and virtually impassable for more than a year.
Despite repeated interventions by the district administration and elected representatives, influential contractors appear to be operating without effective oversight, leaving the public to suffer.
Citizens complain that the situation has turned everyday life into an ordeal, with broken roads, open ditches, and constant excavation work disrupting mobility.
Locals of Garden Colony, in particular, staged protests against the provincial government, criticizing the lack of transparency and communication regarding the projects.
They noted that one day gas pipelines are being laid, the next water supply lines are dug up, but no effort is made to restore the streets or provide a clear timeline
for completion.
Residents lamented that while the government announced ambitious infrastructure plans, the absence of coordination among departments has created chaos. “Our streets have become a curse rather than a convenience,” one protester remarked, urging authorities to take immediate action.
The public has called upon the leadership to ensure accountability of contractors, expedite the completion of schemes, and provide timely information to citizens. Until then, Kohat’s neighborhoods remain mired in disruption, with no relief in sight.
