Kohat's Ashura procession concludes peacefully under stringent security measures

KOHAT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Jun, 2026) The central 10th Muharram (Ashura) mourning procession in Kohat concluded peacefully on Friday under comprehensive security arrangements, as Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nawaz and District Police Officer (DPO) Kohat oversaw monitoring operations from the district's Command and Control Room.

Accompanied by officers of the district administration, police, and other relevant departments, the deputy commissioner reviewed citywide security through CCTV surveillance and assessed administrative measures implemented for the smooth conduct of the procession. Officials maintained close coordination throughout the event to ensure public safety and law and order.

Stringent security measures remained in force along the procession routes, with special checkpoints established on inner and outer city roads.

Entry points leading to the procession were placed under strict control, the central bazaar was sealed, and security teams repeatedly swept the routes to eliminate potential threats. No participant was permitted to join the procession without undergoing thorough security screening.

The procession completed its traditional route without any untoward incident, reflecting the effectiveness of the coordinated security plan. District authorities credited the peaceful observance of Ashura to the joint efforts of the police, civil administration, and other departments, as well as the cooperation of mourners and local residents.
