PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th May, 2026) The Privileges Committee of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Thursday examined a series of privilege motions and decided to convene a high-level meeting next week to address concerns over the inclusion of lawmakers’ Names on the Exit Control List (ECL).
The meeting, chaired by Deputy Speaker Suraiya Bibi, was attended by Law Minister Aftab Alam and members of the provincial assembly, including Munir Hussain Laghmani, Ikramullah Ghazi, Abdul Salam Afridi, Khalid Khan, Arbab Muhammad Waseem, Sobia Shahid, Iftikharullah Jan, Nisar Baz, Ubaid ur Rehman, Musawir Khan, and Shazia Jadoon, said an official release.
Senior officials from the provincial home, police, and law departments appeared before the committee and responded to queries on various privilege motions, presenting their stance and clarifications.
Taking up a motion moved by Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Nisar Baz, the committee decided to summon the Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, senior officials of the provincial home department, as well as representatives from the federal interior ministry and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to formulate a clear mechanism regarding what members described as unwarranted placement of MPAs’ names on the ECL.
The committee also reviewed other pending privilege motions and issued directions to address members’ concerns, emphasizing the need to uphold the dignity and constitutional privileges of elected representatives.
Reaffirming its commitment to maintaining the sanctity and discipline of assembly proceedings, the committee underscored that all individuals and institutions were accountable before the assembly and its committees.
