PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Apr, 2026) Chief Khateeb Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Maulana Muhammad Tayyab Qureshi on Saturday credited Field Marshal Hafiz Asim Munir for brokering a ceasefire agreement between United States and Iran.
According to a statement released by his office on Saturday, Qureshi emphasized that Field Marshal’s visit to Tehran occurred during exceptionally difficult circumstances, yet his diplomatic efforts successfully convinced both parties to agree to a cessation of hostilities. This successful diplomacy, Qureshi noted, prevented a significant disaster from unfolding across Iran and broader middle East.
Discussing regional security, Chief Khateeb framed defense agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia as a commitment backed not just by the government, but by 250 million people of Pakistan.
He asserted that protection of Two Holy Mosques was a fundamental tenet of faith that allows for no compromise and would be upheld at all costs.
Qureshi suggested that Pakistan’s current trajectory under its sincere and thoughtful leadership was finally fulfilling vision of poet Allama Iqbal.
Turning to domestic affairs, Maulana Qureshi appealed for national unity, urging public to set aside personal and political differences in favor of national interest. He reminded citizens that Pakistan was founded upon sacrifices and blood of millions of martyrs, a legacy that he insists will never be forgotten or rendered in vain.
In a sharp critique of regional opposition, he stated that those seeking to weaken Pakistan, specifically mentioning Indian Prime Minister Modi, would face nothing but disappointment, humiliation, and disgrace.
Concluding his statement, Chief Khateeb paid tribute to the Pakistan Army, describing their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism as eternal and reaffirming the nation's unwavering support for its soldiers.
