KP CM launches digital transformation policy, roadmap 2030

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Jul, 2026) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi on Thursday formally launched the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Digital Transformation Policy and Roadmap 2030, describing it as one of Pakistan's most comprehensive digital governance frameworks aimed at modernising public services and promoting a digital economy.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, the CM said the policy is built around five strategic pillars, nine key objectives, 32 thematic domains and 915 strategic interventions.

He appreciated the KP Information Technology board for translating the vision of a "Digital Khyber Pakhtunkhwa" into a practical roadmap.

He said the policy would accelerate paperless governance and digital reforms, leading to greater transparency, accountability and efficiency in public administration. Reducing human intervention in official processes, he added, would help strengthen transparency and improve service delivery.

The CM said government services would be made citizen-centric and shifted online in phases, enabling people, particularly those living in remote areas, to access services without making unnecessary visits to government offices.

Highlighting the economic benefits of digitalisation, he said the promotion of artificial intelligence (AI), digital skills and emerging technologies would create new employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for the youth.

More than 100,000 young people would receive training in AI and digital skills under the roadmap, he added.

Afridi said digitalisation would also help conserve financial resources, reduce paper consumption and contribute to environmental protection.

He said the government would work on green ICT procurement, reducing the carbon footprint and establishing a carbon credit registry to support sustainable development.

Referring to the province's financial performance, the chief minister said the government collected Rs150 billion in revenue during the last fiscal year against a target of Rs129 billion without imposing any new taxes.

He said the revenue target for the current fiscal year had been set at Rs180 billion, expressing confidence that collections would reach Rs200 billion.

He said a comprehensive implementation framework, including clear targets and timelines, had been prepared to ensure the successful execution of the Digital KP 2030 roadmap and reaffirmed the government's commitment to accelerating digital reforms for improved governance and public convenience.
