PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Mar, 2026) The Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) successfully foiled a major drug smuggling attempt in the provincial capital, seizing 76,800 grams of hashish and arresting two accused.
The operation was carried out by the Excise Police Peshawar Region on the basis of actionable intelligence,
resulting in the interception of a vehicle transporting narcotics.
According to officials of the department, the raid took place towards Islamabad main road near H-Gol Chowk. The operation was supervised by Excise and Taxation Officer (Counter Narcotics Operations) Majid Khan and Circle Officer Hamidullah.
The ground operation, led by Station Head Officer Excise Police Station Peshawar Region Imad Khan, involved a search of the vehicle (registration number LEC-6325), during which 76,800 grams of hashish were recovered.
The suspects, identified as Ajmal Abbas son of Muhammad Ameer and Muhammad Sohail son of Muhammad Ali, residents of Kabirwala, District Khanewal, were arrested on the spot.
A case has been registered against the accused at Excise Police Station Peshawar Region, and further investigation is underway to dismantle the network behind the smuggling attempt.
Officials emphasized that operations against drug traffickers will continue with full intensity to curb the menace of narcotics and protect the youth.
