KP Governor expresses grief over killing of Maulana Idrees, seeks report from authorities

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th May, 2026) Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Tuesday expressed deep sorrow over the killing of renowned religious scholar and former MPA Maulana Idrees in a deadly attack and sought a report from senior authorities.

According to a spokesperson for Governor House Peshawar, the governor contacted relevant officials immediately after learning of the incident and directed them to submit a detailed report.

The governor termed the martyrdom of Maulana Idrees an irreparable loss not only for the province but for the entire country.

He said the late scholar had devoted his life to the promotion of religious teachings and peace.

He said that the sacrifice of Maulana Idrees would not go in vain and that those responsible for the heinous act would be brought to justice.

Governor Kundi appealed to the public to remain patient during this difficult time and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family, students and followers of the deceased scholar.

He also prayed for strength and patience for the family and all those mourning the loss.
