KP govt announces Rs50bn Mardan development package

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Apr, 2026) The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced a comprehensive development package worth Rs. 50 billion for District Mardan.

According to official details, Rs. 25 billion has been allocated specifically for major projects in the Communication and Works sector, marking a significant step towards infrastructure development in the region.

The package includes the introduction of modern traffic management systems, advanced engineering measures, and improved urban design within Mardan city. A key component of the plan is the construction and rehabilitation of a district-wide circular road aimed at easing traffic congestion and enhancing connectivity.

Major road infrastructure projects include the dualization of the road from Jawad Chowk to Baghdad Chowk and the expansion of the Shahbaz Garhi to Taro Jabba Road into a dual carriageway.

Additionally, the construction of the Katlang Bypass and Hothi Bridge has been planned to ensure safer and smoother traffic flow across the district.

The government has also prioritized improving access to key locations, including the development of a route linking the Jamal Garhi archaeological site to the Swat Motorway Interchange. Other projects include the construction of the Sang-e-Kashmir to Fazal Abad Ghani Road and the expansion of road networks connecting Sang-e-Dhan with Parhoti, Pir Sado, Mian Isa, and Jalalah Bazaar.

Furthermore, construction and rehabilitation work on Bani Pass and the Lund Khwar to Katlang Road are part of the package. Officials stated that these initiatives reflect the provincial government’s commitment to modernizing the transport infrastructure, which is expected to boost economic activity and provide improved travel facilities for the residents of Mardan.
