KP govt announces two public holidays

The holidays will be observed in all provincial government offices.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has declared public holidays on June 25 and 26 in observance of Ashura.

According to an official notification issued by the Administration Department, Chief Minister Sohail Afridi approved holidays on the 9th and 10th of Muharram, which fall on Thursday, June 25, and Friday, June 26, 2026.

The holidays will be observed in all provincial government offices operating under both five-day and six-day workweek schedules.

The announcement was made through a press release issued by the Administration Department on June 23.

Ashura, observed on the 9th and 10th of Muharram, is marked across Pakistan with religious gatherings, processions, and commemorative events. The provincial government has directed authorities to ensure wide publicity of the notification through print and electronic media to keep the public informed.
