PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Jul, 2026) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Communications & Works, Shakeel Ahmad, has announced that the provincial government will construct dignified mausoleums for the eminent Pashto poets Khyber Afridi, Khater Afridi, and Hamza Baba, all belonging to District Khyber.
He said these distinguished literary figures are an invaluable asset of the Pashto language and literature, and their scholarly, literary, and intellectual contributions will always be remembered.
The announcement was made during the Minister's visit to District Khyber.
Speaking on the occasion, Shakeel Ahmad said that writers and poets are the custodians of a nation's identity, civilization, and cultural heritage. Therefore, acknowledging their contributions and preserving their legacy is the responsibility of the government.

He added that the construction of the mausoleums of Khabir Afridi, Khater Afridi, and Hamza Baba would not only pay tribute to these great literary figures but would also provide the younger generation with an opportunity to learn about their rich literary traditions and cultural heritage.
The minister for Communications & Works directed the relevant authorities to immediately coordinate with the Department of Archaeology so that all legal and technical requirements are fulfilled and the construction work on the mausoleums can commence at the earliest.
