The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has significantly increased funding for the purchase of medicines and drugs in public health facilities for the fiscal year 2026–27
PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Jun, 2026) The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has significantly increased funding for the purchase of medicines and drugs in public health facilities for the fiscal year 2026–27.
According to budget documents on Friday, the allocation for the procurement of medicines has been raised from PKR 11.9 billion in FY 2025–26 to PKR 14.3 billion in FY 2026–27, reflecting an increase of approximately 20.2 percent.
The Chief Minister in his budget speech said that the additional funding aims at ensuring the uninterrupted availability of essential medicines in hospitals and healthcare centers across the province.

Officials said the enhanced allocation demonstrates the government's commitment to strengthening the healthcare system, improving service delivery, and ensuring that patients receive prescribed treatments without unnecessary delays or financial burden.
The increased budget is also expected to improve the overall quality of healthcare services by keeping medical facilities adequately stocked with essential pharmaceuticals.
