KP PA unanimously approves over Rs.14.73bln for finance, audit deptts

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Jun, 2026) The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Tuesday unanimously approved over Rs.14.73 billion in demands for grants for the Finance, Treasury and Local Fund Audit Department after the opposition withdrew its cut motions following detailed deliberations on financial transparency, development delays and governance-related issues.

During the discussion on demands for grants, opposition members raised concerns over delays in development projects, fund releases, problems faced by government employees and issues related to financial transparency.

Adviser to the Finance Department Muzammil Aslam defended government policies and assured the House that opposition concerns would be addressed.

The approval came after the opposition withdrew its cut motions, leading to the unanimous passage of the grants amounting to over Rs.14.73 billion for the concerned departments.

Lawmakers had earlier engaged in an extensive debate on various financial and development matters, including the slow progress of major infrastructure projects, delays in bill clearance, and the need for stronger oversight of public spending.

The government maintained that reforms were underway to improve transparency and efficiency in financial management.
