KP police review security arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram.

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Jun, 2026) Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed on Tuesday chaired an important meeting of provincial peace committees and religious scholars of different schools of thought to review security arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram.

The meeting was attended by peace committee members and scholars from Peshawar in person, while representatives from other districts joined through video link from regional police offices.

Addressing the participants, the IGP said a comprehensive and coordinated security plan had been prepared for Muharram processions and gatherings to ensure peaceful observance of the holy month at all costs.

He stressed the need for unity, religious harmony and close coordination among all stakeholders, saying public cooperation was essential for maintaining law and order.

Members of the peace committees assured the police of their full cooperation and offered voluntary services for maintaining peace during Muharram.
