PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Apr, 2026) The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to conduct a large-scale audit of the financial and administrative affairs of the previous local government system.
According to official sources on Sunday, the government will carry out a comprehensive review of records from former district, tehsil and town administrations.
In the initial phase, records of more than 24 former local governments will be examined, while additional institutions will be included in the second phase.
Metropolitan sources revealed that key government records have already been requested for audit and investigation.
These include recruitment processes, appointments of contract employees, procurement of official vehicles, release and utilization of development funds, auction of government shops and the subsequent cancellation of such auctions.
Sources further indicated that complaints regarding irregularities and possible violations of rules and regulations had surfaced, prompting the government to initiate this extensive audit.
To ensure transparency and effectiveness, the government has formed special teams that will visit various districts to scrutinize records and oversee the audit process.
