PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th Apr, 2026) Internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Kurram are reportedly facing severe hardships while residing in temporary relief, saying they are having a miserable time at these camps.
According to reports from the camps on Monday, residents displaced from Central Kurram have taken shelter in makeshift camps in Lower Kurram. However, living conditions in these camps have deteriorated significantly, leaving families struggling to meet even basic needs.
Affected individuals claim that for the past four to five days, they have been deprived of access to clean drinking water. As a result, they are being forced to use contaminated water not only for drinking but also for daily activities such as ablution, raising serious health concerns.
The displaced families further allege that relief supplies and ration intended for them are not reaching the rightful beneficiaries.
Instead, they claim, aid is being distributed among undeserving individuals, leaving the most vulnerable without support.
Continuous rainfall has worsened the situation, as the drainage system in the camps has collapsed. Rainwater has flooded tents, soaking bedding, personal belongings and essential household items, further compounding the misery of the residents.
Moreover, the provision of a Ramazan relief package, have allegedly not been fulfilled, adding to the frustration and suffering of the displaced population.
The affected families have appealed to the authorities for immediate intervention to address their grievances and ensure fair distribution of aid, clean water supply and proper shelter facilities.
