PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Mar, 2026) Two key jirgas were held in Parachinar and Sadda on Friday that endorsed a coordinated strategy to ensure lasting peace and stability in Kurram district.
The jirgas were chaired by Commissioner Kohat Division Syed Motasim Billah Shah and attended by Sunni and Shia tribal elders, senior civil administration and security officials, said a press release issued here.
Among the participants were DIG Kohat Irfan Tariq, Deputy Commissioner Ashfaq Khan, Lieutenant Colonel Sikandar and District Police Officer Malik Habib.
The jirgas reviewed the overall law and order situation, progress on the Kohat Peace Agreement, restoration of the Parachinar–Peshawar Highway and ongoing development projects in the district.
The speakers emphasized that in the prevailing regional and international context, national unity and inter-sect harmony were essential for sustainable peace.
They stressed that public cooperation with the administration, police and security forces was crucial to maintain stability and counter disruptive elements.
Tribal elders reaffirmed their full support to the administration and security forces, pledging to ensure implementation of the peace agreement and remain vigilant against anti-state elements.
Briefings were also given on development initiatives in health, education and communication sectors, which were appreciated by the participants.
The jirgas concluded with a consensus to further strengthen coordination among all stakeholders to promote durable peace, development and public welfare in Kurram district.
