Labourer killed while cleaning manhole

BUREWALA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Apr, 2026) A labourer died after inhaling poisonous gas while cleaning a sewer manhole, rescue sources said here on Wednesday.

The incident occurred in suburban village 187/EB, where the local worker, identified as Farhad, resident of 247/EB Machhiwal, was cleaning a sewer line when he was exposed to toxic gas and died on the spot.

Rescue teams shifted the body to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for legal formalities.

Sources said that a similar incident had also occurred a day earlier in which a father and son died while cleaning a sewerage well in 433/EB Machhiwal, raising the death toll from such incidents in the area to three.

Locals protested and demanded action against the responsible authorities over repeated safety failures.

Police concerned registered case and launched investigation.
