Lady Willingdon Hospital MS, HoD Gynae suspended over negligence

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Mar, 2026) The Punjab government has suspended MS Lady Willingdon Hospital Dr. Farah Inam and Head of Gynecology Department Prof. Dr. Uzma Hussain over serious negligence in the performance of their duties.

According to the health department on Saturday, five postgraduate residents (PGRs) and two charge nurses were also suspended and directed to report to headquarters. Iqra Zahid and Fauzia Rasheed, both charge nurses, along with Haseeb-ur-Rauf, a cook in the hospital kitchen, were removed from duty after being suspended under the PEEDA Act.

The services of WMO Dr. Iqra Hafeez have been repatriated to the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department. Meanwhile, the postgraduate training of Dr. Amna Rasheed, a PGR, has been suspended with immediate effect for violating the code of conduct under clause 13.

2 of the Policy and Procedure Manual (PPM) of Level-III Programs, and she has also been directed to report to headquarters.

Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique stated that violation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) in hospitals will not be tolerated under any circumstances. He said immediate action was taken against those responsible after negligence was identified at Lady Willingdon Hospital.

Secretary Specialized Healthcare and Medical education Azmat Mahmood said that such actions amount to a violation of medical ethics, an insult to patient dignity, and a breach of professional standards, which are strictly prohibited under government rules and hospital SOPs.
