LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Feb, 2026) The city’s average Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 190, placing it in the unhealthy category and indicating a significant risk to public health, particularly for children, the elderly, and individuals with respiratory or heart conditions.
Environmental experts warned that prolonged exposure to such air quality levels can lead to breathing difficulties, irritation of the eyes and throat, and worsening of existing medical conditions.
Data further showed that the concentration of fine particulate matter (PM2.5) reached levels approximately 22.2 times higher than the annual guideline value set by the World Health Organization (WHO).
