ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Apr, 2026) Federal Minister for Energy (Power Division) Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari on Friday welcomed the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz for commercial navigation, expressing hope that the development would lead to a reduction in fuel prices and improved energy availability in Pakistan.
In a message shared on social media platform X, the minister thanked Almighty Allah and said Pakistan had played a constructive role in promoting global peace under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.
He noted that a ceasefire in Lebanon and the reopening of the key maritime route would positively impact global energy supplies.
The minister expressed confidence that the improved situation would help bring down petrol and diesel prices in the near future, while better availability of liquefied natural gas (LNG) would enhance electricity generation and ensure greater power supply across the country.
