HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Feb, 2026) The Sindh Local Government Minister, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, inaugurated here on Monday a 5 million gallons per day (MGD) lagoon built near Kohsar town in Latifabad.
Speaking at the ceremony, the minister said under the vision of President Asif Ali Zardari and Pakistan Peoples Party's Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, development works were being carried out across the province.
He claimed that the team of Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shahwas working day and night to address issues of the public and to provide them with more and more facilities.
Shah noted that a big development package had been given to Hyderabad under which many main roads, bridges, water supply and sewerage schemes had been completed and other projects were under execution.
Referring to Mehar Ali society in Latifabad, the minister said that en route to the lagoon, a big unplanned settlement existed, which always became flooded in rainwater.
He announced that a drainage scheme to prevent flooding of the settlement was also being implemented.
Earlier, the minister was briefed about the 5 MGD lagoon, which had been constructed through the Hyderabad Development Authority (HDA).
The Mayor informed that a proposal for the construction of a filtration plant in the same area had also been submitted to the provincial government.
Mayor Kashif Ali Shoro, MNA Tariq Ali Shah Jamote, Deputy Mayor Sagheer Ahmed Qureshi, DG HDA, local government representatives and officers were present on the occasion.
