LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Apr, 2026) The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday directed the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore, and medical superintendents of hospitals across Punjab to submit their reports at the next hearing in a case concerning fire incidents in buildings and safety measures.

During the proceedings, the federation and the Punjab government submitted their fire prevention policy reports before the court.

Chief Justice Aalia Neelum heard the petition filed by the Judicial Activism Panel. Assistant Advocate General Waqas Umar represented the provincial government, while Deputy Attorney General Riffaqat Dogar appeared on behalf of the federation. Advocate Azhar Siddique represented the petitioner.

Responding to the court’s query, the law officer stated that several departments — including the Inspector General of Police, Lahore Development Authority (LDA), Walled City Authority, Home Department, and Environment Department — have already submitted their replies.

A report from Rescue 1122 has also been submitted.

However, reports from the PDMA, CCPO Lahore, and medical superintendents of hospitals across the province are still awaited. The court was further informed that the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), FESCO, and GEPCO have also submitted their reports.

Terming the matter significant, the chief justice directed the petitioner’s counsel to present arguments with full preparation at the next hearing, adding that the case would not be unnecessarily prolonged. The court emphasized that an early decision would be made.

The hearing was adjourned till April 30.
