The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday dismissed a petition seeking the quashment of a case registered over the alleged promotion of a gambling application

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Feb, 2026) The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday dismissed a petition seeking the quashment of a case registered over the alleged promotion of a gambling application.

Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh heard the petition filed by YouTuber Iqra Kanwal, who had challenged the First Information Report (FIR) registered by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).

During the hearing, the court was informed that the NCCIA had registered the gambling app promotion case on September 24, 2025. Counsel for the petitioner argued that the FIR had been lodged by ignoring the facts and maintained that the petitioner had not encouraged any of her followers to invest in or use a gambling application.

The court was urged to quash what was termed a false case.

Opposing the plea, Assistant Advocate General Punjab Sattar Sahil contended that the court could not quash the FIR before the completion of the investigation. He submitted that the petitioner’s innocence, if any, could be established after the investigation report is submitted by the investigating officer.

He further argued that a petition for quashment was not maintainable prior to the submission of the investigation report by the NCCIA.

After hearing preliminary arguments from both sides, the court dismissed the petition seeking quashment of the case.
