ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Jun, 2026) Pakistan's education sector recorded a positive improvement in literacy indicators during fiscal year 2024-25, with the national literacy rate rising to nearly 63 percent, despite a reduction in overall education expenditures, according to the Pakistan Economic Survey 2025-26.

The survey revealed that total spending on education stood at approximately Rs962 billion during FY2025, compared to Rs1,251.06 billion in the previous reported year.

Despite lower expenditures, the sector continued to make progress through ongoing reforms, improved access to education and enhanced participation across various levels of learning.
