RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st May, 2026) Veterinary officer of the Livestock Department, Punjab, Dr. Javed Munir, on Thursday said special arrangements have been made for the health, treatment and disease prevention of animals at all notified livestock markets established for Eid-ul-Azha.
Talking to APP, Dr Javed Munir said all veterinary facilities were being provided to citizens free of charge at cattle markets.
He said the department had ensured surveillance, treatment, preventive spraying and awareness campaigns regarding animal diseases at the livestock markets.
According to the veterinary officer, teams of the Livestock Department were continuously inspecting animals arriving at the markets to prevent the spread of infectious diseases promptly.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>He said animals entering the markets were being sprayed regularly to protect them from ticks, flies and other insects, while special preventive spraying arrangements had also been made at the entry and exit points of the city to minimize possible disease risks.
Dr. Munir said services including animal treatment, medical examination, disease diagnosis and provision of medicines were being offered free of cost at these camps.
The veterinary officer added that the Livestock Department’s mobile veterinary vans were also active and patrolling urban areas as well as cattle markets to facilitate traders and buyers and ensure immediate veterinary assistance where required.
